Ayurvedic Yoga Massage

£70 per hour

Ayurvedic Yoga Massage (AYM) combines traditional Indian deep tissue massage with yoga stretches and assisted breathwork. The original method of AYM was developed by Master Kusum Modak, a student of BKS Iyengar, in the 1980’s. AYM draws together the therapeutic aspects of mobilisations, tractions and passive yoga stretches with the restorative propensity of Ayurvedic massage to create a powerful method of tension releasing bodywork.

What to expect: The session is given on a mattress on the floor using natural oils and (where appropriate) essential oils. The session involves alternation between deep tissue massage and stretches covering all regions of the body (the ratio of which alternates in relation to the client’s needs). Both hands and feet are used as well as Calamus root powder (unique to Ayurvedic Yoga Massage) which draws out toxins and stimulates sensory awareness and blood circulation.
